The Coding Olympiad is four competitions in one, and you choose the track that fits how you code.

The tracks

  • Arena Battles — write a Python or JavaScript AI that fights in CodeCombat's arena. Grades 4 to 12. You get a 36-hour window and can resubmit as often as you like.
  • Challenges — solve a run of coding puzzles on Codementum in Scratch, Python or JavaScript. Grades 1 to 12, starting with block-based code for the youngest.
  • AI Prompt Engineering — timed tasks where the skill is asking an AI the right way. Grades 6 to 11. No coding experience needed.
  • Computer Science — a free multiple-choice test on how computers and programs work. Grades 3 to 11.

Each track has its own qualification rules, and the best results lead to the Grand Final, held in person.

Who can take part

Students in grades 1 to 12 — which grades depends on the track. Schools can register groups at a discount.
